Theory was incorrect but conclusion was perfect. In the end for people only result matters,all efforts are just ignored as if conclusion or end result was direct and a magic.

Maybe a more striking historical example is Ptolemy's calculation of planetary orbits which gave more accurate results with the Earth at the center than Copernicus's until Kepler brought elliptical orbits into consideration.

I can't read the language but the diagram appears to indicate an initial period of travel in a straight line without the immediate effects of gravity.
