The devil, is, of course, in the detail of the meanings of 'appear' and 'measured'.

So if you travel at the speed of light, length is zero.
-
You can only approach the speed, not ever reach it. Now if you had no mass (like photons) you could do it, so get dieting!

When this idea was first proposed Dunwich ferrier Bascomb Tittle tested it by driving two carriages between Ballinasloe and Athlone. The faster carriage was about an inch shorter upon reaching Athlone. Whether speed or a collision with a cow was the cause was never determined.

Here's a new interpretation of length contraction. The numbers are correct, without even the least bit of curve fitting, something to ponder upon. The interpretation is included. 7 pages, clear results.https://www.scribd.com/document/390973258/MQ-Mechanics-of-the-Quantum-Property-6-Relativistic-Mass-Increase-Follows-Weakness-Curve-of-Segmental-Arch-SCRIBD …

A length (L₀) in a fixed frame will appear contracted when measured in a frame moving at a velocity V. The measured length (L) appears smaller when compared to the fixed frame.
At 99.5% the speed of light you will find that: L ~ L₀/10
