William Jones introduced π as the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter in his 1706 book Synopsis palmariorum matheseos http://bit.ly/2C2OOww , a year before Euler‘s birth (he popularised it in his Introductio in analysin infinitorum in 1748 http://bit.ly/2NFnokK ).pic.twitter.com/Jy2afwxYmV
