Well, when the moon formed it was like 15 times closer to earth than now. And it’s receding with a few centimeters every year. So I’d say the real coincidence is that we humans are around at this specific time in history to witness this alignment.

If the moon is closer we can still see total solar eclipse. Isn't it? Only if moon goes farther from earth we can't see a total eclipse.
