And one of those holes was a well used by Ruprecht LeFarge (1875-1940) who dropped into it both a kerosene lantern and a rare Stanbridge White duck. To his surprise, the duck struck the bottom first prompting him to exclaim, “La chose la plus rapide dans l'univers est le canard!”
