Yes, but these where conjectures. The real breakthrough was *proving* heliocentric model. Conjectures are useful, but to became real models they need Proofs and Formulas

Copernicus had problems to get right predictions ‘cause he still believed in helicycles and constant orbital speeds. Kepler was able to fix it with elliptic trajectories with variable speeds. Newton collects ALL these concepts in his “Principia”
