So, what exactly happens on Io? I'm curious.
-
Io is as big as Earth's moon but is so close to Jupiter it orbits the giant planet every 42.5 hours. That means Io is subject to very strong gravitational attraction: more on its inside face than the outside one. This difference constantly 'massages', heats and melts Io's rocks.

Distressed by the violence on Io perpetrated by that bully of all planets, Jupiter, Astronomers without Borders is planning a rescue mission in the near future. “All we need is a bazillion dollars, a spaceship, and a whole bunch of granola bars,” stated Wilt Norman, group leader.

I consider Jupiter's (a baby star) moon Io a planet the equivalent of our Venus, starting to ride a square wave.
