The trick is he said solar day the second time. youhave to account for the fact that it is spinning around the sun.

Still it would be just 110 earth days. 110/88 = 1.25 I’m confused because in the beginning he said 59 earth days is one mercury day and in he image it says 55.

59~=60, 89~=90. Omega1 = 360/60 =6. Omega2=360/90= 4 degrees/day. Omega3=Omega1+-Omega2. 6+4=10, or 10degrees/day or 36 days. 6-4=2 or 10 degrees/day ~= 180 days for full rotation(~176). Q:why are the 2 rotations opposing each other ?

So, if an earth couple travels Mercury and gets into an argument but finally agrees to talk about it tomorrow, they really mean in two years...

it's because Mercury is closer to the sun than the earth is (tide effects). check out the same figures for the Moon ;-).

The moon is fully tidally locked to earth. It’s rotation around its axis matches it’s orbit around the earth. Except for a slight wobble, you wouldn’t see an “earthrise to earthrise” day from the moon.

It would be interesting to say 1 mercury year is 1.6 8.8÷5.5 mercury day!

sunrises then a Mercury solar day is 176 Earth days, so on Mercury: 1 day = 2 years
