Yes clean up the industry. But only by reducing new fossil fuel supply at the same time as reducing demand do we have a shot at liveable climate. Economic & political lock-in = aiming for one without other will fail. See

The Economist writes about Australia's climate policy: Kyoto targets "piffling", no attempt to reign in fossil fuel use despite renewables advantage. I'm quoted on watering down 2030 target. State/Territory action highlighted, with a nod to ACT 100% REN.

Congrats to on her first published academic journal article, looking at local factors that fuel radical right voting, with evidence from France. The first of what will no doubt be many important contributions to political science!

Almost two thirds of Australians believe the country is facing a climate emergency and governments should mobilise all of society to tackle the issue as it did during the world wars, a new survey from has found.

Climate change is making natural disasters like fires, floods, heatwaves and drought worse, costing Australians billions every year. Make fossil fuel producers pay a climate disaster levy to help pay for climate disasters. ADD YOUR NAME >

Focusing on reducing emissions is only one half of the solution The other is addressing fossil fuel production Currently no requirement for countries to share info about their planned fossil fuel extraction levels (or financing for it) From

Australia has a lot of problems right now. A great many of them are encapsulated by this photo. For non-Australians, what you see here is the federal Minister (conservative) and Shadow Minister (Labor) for resources talking up the future of Australia's coal exports.

. is calling for no new coal and the report shows why: planned coal production nearly x3 higher than our climate can safely sustain. is building a launchpad for more ambition and inclusion in 2020 and beyond.

Australia has a bigger share of traded coal market than saudis have of oil market. Our supply decisions impact price. Price impacts demand. It’s not complicated

Australia is world’s largest exporter of coal and liquefied natural gas - the world’s third-biggest exporter of fossil carbon, after Russia and Saudi Arabia. Plans to increase production by 30percent over next decade will undercut the Paris Agreement.

Like the international pressure heaped on Bolsonaro for the Amazon fires, isn't it time European leaders called out Australia for its conspicuous acts of carbon production? 3/3
