Or when the comedy starts taking off and they start gettin those checks and their “character’s” costume suddenly upgrades, wig is laid and the makeup is better, suddenly I’m not so sure it’s a character anymore

Tre Melvin great example. Glad he came out but his new personality is so much more different from before (when he was still cosplaying as a woman) which is similar to a lot of these male wig comedians (I love this guy too) just an observation.
