Deontological judgments are shaped by affective processes, whereas utilitarian judgments are guided by cognitive processes. Variation in the oxytocin receptor gene (OXTR) is associated with differences in moral judgment.https://academic.oup.com/scan/article/11/12/1872/2544449 …

So tired of being told what I am based on averages of scientific studies. I thought we had moved beyond this.
-
No one is saying anything about you.
-
You’re right Max. Unfortunately, the general public thinks in essentialist terms. They assume individuals are imbued with what is statistically true their group. That creates problems for people like Isabella who want to be treated as an individual.
-
Perhaps a part of the solution is greater statistical and scientific literacy among the general public. That would be greatly preferable to scientific denialism, which is pushed by a vocal contingent of misguided ideologues.
-
A difficult task in this click bait age, unfortunately.

I'd pay more to a utilitarian worker than a deontological one.

What does 'd=0.52' indicate?
-
It's Cohen D. It's the effect size, which indicates the strength of the relationship. For social sciences, anything above 0.50 is usually considered rare.

Don't general theories imply similar *past* group selection pressures?
