I think the one scenario where they won was actually one in where they had to let Thanos take the Time Stone and do his thing. Strange is playing the long term game and probably realized Stark had an essential role to play.

You might as well ask why Thanos didn't extend the resources of the universe to accommodate everyone already in it. Or strike a generation or two with zpg, or adjust the means of capital distribution...

ok A. in his movie they point out how abusing the time stone could shatter the space time continuum. B, dude ran 14 million futures. we're on the winning path. he probably saw that all those other paths don't work for some reason.

I don't know why, but I have two related musings: 1) I think Heimdall may have seen the same future, which is why he sent Hulk to Earth. Not just to warn Strange, but to keep the winning line going. 2) If the events of InfWar are made to not happen somehow, I will be pissed.

Because after viewing +10M possible outcomes (which would presumably include time reversal) he only saw one successful outcome.

He hid the stone, so he couldn't use it's power. Thanos even makes a comment about him not using the stone.

I'm more curious why no one cut his hand out when he was subdued. But as for Strange, he looked into the future and said, "This was the only way," referring to the only path in which they win.

He saw 14 million paths (whatever it was). My guess is that as a strategy,he knew it wouldn’t work for some reason.

My theory: if he goes back to before the attack, Thanos is super far away. Can Strange also do interstellar travel? He’d need to get to Xandar before Thanos.

@ebonyaster@carolynmichelle best I can come up with is that, before the battle of titan, strange looked into the future and saw 1 future in millions where they win. Not using the time stone (and trading it to spare Tony) must be part of the 1 good futureThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Also, he could only go back like a half hour in the movie. That's hardly enough to stop Thanos.

I think that’s the plot for the next movie. What, you thought they were all gonna stay dead?

Because effectively using superpowers is a story killer. Making superheroes fallible and ineffective creates drama.

Because he is a man, his misogyny would not allow him to reverse the deaths of any women.

Do you think you think that was funny?
-
Oh. So you're dumb and not funny.

You are entitled to your opinion.

You're not.
