You clearly have no problem disparaging the quality of a game based on your own tastes. They're both fine games; you should be able to tell that, whether or not it appeals to you, personally.

I shouldn't have to explain this but the tweet was a joke. The comparison between Kratos and Yoshi was in no way serious. Still, I'll gladly disparage plenty of popular games (or praise unpopular ones) based on my own tastes, experience, and perspective. THAT'S WHAT CRITICS DO.

No, that's what bad critics do. Actual critics disparage or praise works IN SPITE OF their own personal biases. I don't even like playing GoW, actually, but it isn't because I think the games aren't amazing.

You should have more faith in your own beliefs and experiences. It's okay to think the God of War games aren't good. The tendency toward consensus in gaming criticism is what's bad, the overwhelming lack of diverse opinions and independent thought.

Diverse thoughts and opinions aren't what makes good games. They can make a good game great, but they only make poor and mediocre games into niche titles that appeal to 12 people.

Or how about the batman arkham trilogy which invented a new combat system, which is still used today in other games.

With all do respect, as a person who respects your work I do not think you are giving GOW enough credit. In fact, I find it quite insulting you ignore that there are plenty of games that use violence in a original way. Hmmmm let me compile a list. Spec Ops MGS This War is Mine
