They should certainly be the preferred choice. If you have a female characters, you usually look for a female actor don't you? If you have a very tall character....get a tall actor. Get the actor who can bring the most genuine element of understanding to the role.

I disagree. All stories can be told by any person, just as long as they are passionate enough.

I mean, if a suitable trans actor is available and a good fit for the part, why not? But don't say anybody who's not trans can't play a trans part. That's a great way to get LESS mainstream trans screentime which I'd assume you'd be against?

I mean... he definitely shouldn't be fired. He's a great guy and from what I've seen he really tries and cares to do well in the role. I definitely am onboard that trans people could be hired to play those roles if they want them, though.

I'd say both. Problem with the literal presentation exclusively by an actual one could provoke a reaction doing more damage than help. Keeping the old one at least shows that even the "normies" can be part of that without being against it and whatnot...

Isn't acting the craft of pretending to be something you're not? @jeffreytambor is doing an excellent job. Why punish success?

Let's go one further. Let's only have people tell their own stories. We wouldn't even need actors! Might be trouble for historical, or futuristic, or fantasy, or just fictional stories. But the point stands, no more pretending to be someone you're not. Oh wait... Trans...
