yo, it tripped me out to see how many abolitionist are into the CSI’s and such. At first i blamed 90s war on drugs media and that damn DARE dog for make police narratives nostalgic. But folks got some real sophisticated analysis for why they watch them shows.

For me Henning Mankell's Wallander novels remain a kind of gold standard because I find them humanistic, not glorifying of the police as an institution, and because Wallander is relatably as lost and depressed about the human condition as I am!

The great Martin Beck books by Maj Sjowall and Per Wahloo are perhaps even more openly critical of the police and their failures to legitimately serve the interests of the public.
