You know this was a controversial headline within the community, right? Most of the piece has nothing to do with this. It's a lede at best.

The article goes into it, but for the headline to have focused on that, and you guys to have continued that, is disingenuous at best.

There is an argument that female-only leagues is the best way to promote female esports, similar to female-only chess competitions.

I was thinking about that video, he explains that women can compete with men. But I think the male-only environment is unwelcoming to women.

Definitely, if you remember the FGC kerfluffle at Cross Assault, women don't really have a lot of motivation to become top tier players if

I have heard some stories, even some of the ones who manage to compete alongside with men tend to get a lot of shit.

So.. they should put women in pro eSports teams, regardless of skill, just to be diverse? Who tf would prioritize diversity over skill?

If you read the article you'll know that the lack of equal numbers of qualified female players is due to years of stigma and harassment against women in professional gaming. We don't fix it by forcing girls on the team, we fix it by changing the toxic anti-female gamer culture.

Nobody is ever safe from toxicity. The kind of people we should be protecting are kids, since parents can apply that kind of limitation.

No, but gaming has its won unique brand of toxic and it is far more likely to go overboard at a female gamer than a male gamer. Doesn't mean men dont get it just as bad, but it's more likely if you're female.

It's not about who get's the worst toxicity, it's eliminating the toxic part of it. It will not go away for as long as there is multiplayer.
