I'm not saying the replies are right but that comment was pretty racist to begin with. if you don't want backlash then watch what you say.

When she had constant experience of white people wishing her harm, being nervous being surrounded by white people isn’t racist or weird.
-
Imagine the races were flipped.
-
Imagine…..but they aren’t. White people throw violent words and actions at black people daily, and hold societal power. Intent plus ability.
-
I am pretty sure if I said I felt unsafe because I was surrounded by black people, the internet would respond similarly. They’re mad.
-
Do you get daily racially motivated threats of violence from random black people?
-
Perhaps if he lived in Detroit.

Speak the truth? You mean make racist remarks and complain about being called out on it. You know because "people of color cant be racist."
-
Saying "I don't feel safe here" merits thousands of death threats? Objecting to death threats is "complaining"?
-
If she didn't feel safe why didn't she go "hey I have legs I can walk out of here."? That's what I would have done.
-
Maybe she was hungry? Maybe she thought it would look weird to turn around and leave right after entering? Maybe her tweet was a joke?
-
There are a million reasons to stay somewhere you're uncomfortable. Have you never been in that situation?
-
I'm constantly in a situation where in uncomfortable. You don't see me making racist tweets.
-
The irony is so thick here. Yes, I literally do see you making racist tweets.
-
Half of my tweets aren't even pointed at any race in specific. Unless you count feminists as a race.

So discouraging that white folks are more upset by being suspected of racism than they are by actual racism against Black people

U realize how ridiculous 'people of colour' is grammatically? Just say black or pink or whatever u really mean.
-
People of color is a commonly accepted term for anyone who is not white.
-
What about “colored people”? It’s the same, like “tall people” and “people of height” are the same.
-
It would be the same except for the history of decades of discrimination associated with the term "colored people" in the Jim Crow era South
-
Exactly :) because meaning is what hurts people.. not words! Help me spread this message.
-
.... words have meaning tho

-
Meaning is conveyed through words. The same sentence can mean something very different in different context.
-
You already demonstrated to me that some words have a stronger meaning because of historical context. We’re agreeing. Don’t mess this up.
