I hate to sound like a stupid libertarian... but I've gotta say that this is a bad idea. Who gets to be the arbiter of culture? #freespeech

Not to mention, the act of calling out 'cultural appropriation' itself feels entirely racist to me. "Only X people get to behave Y." Please.
-
Upholding one's own cultural identity doesn't sound at all racist to me. If people are proud of their heritage, cool.
-
And, yeah, be proud of your culture. No doubt.

So were going to have a list to say if your x race you can only do x things but if you do ys things you get arrested?
-
Do we lock up eminem for rapping? Can americans still play hockey? Can women wear pants? This is silly.
-
This is a really good tweet out-of-context btw. In context, I don't think you have as much to worry about.

There are rules like this in the EU - you can't put Cornish Pasty on your product if it's not made in Cornwall etc. It's biz protectionism.
-
However, it would clearly be against the first amendment to apply such a law to individuals, and potentially corporations too.
-
If I took something you created and sold it for my own personal profit, that's not freedom of speech.
-
Yea, I kind of cover this in the tweet above. We generally handle ownership of the execution of ideas through patents and copyright..
