In The Witcher 3 you get to play as Ciri for short segments but be warned enemies will yell nasty gendered insults at her while she fights.

@femfreq nope... she's a fictional character. Therefore it's fictional sexism too. (And the insults hurled at Geralt abs elves is racism). -

@Dani3po
@femfreq Birth Of A Nation. Clearly racist as it depicts racism as a good thing, with the racists as heroic. -
@Dani3po
@femfreq in fact... the original Witcher game - as great as it is - went WAY too far with its sex cards. -
@Dani3po
@femfreq but sexism from fictional characters does not necessarily make the work of art or the writer sexist themselves.

@femfreq Awwww.... dammit. I'm literally downloading this game as we speak. What a waste. -

@TheOriginalLurk I checked to see if you were following me. You weren't, so I don't feel bad for blocking you. Cheers, buddy. -
@Snubs@TheOriginalLurk you're not here for discourse are you. If someone doesn't have the same opinions as you, you block them? -
@RuaniJr If someone rushes to judgement, I don't waste time on them. There's a difference between opinions and assumptions. -
@Snubs I at least try to convince them they're wrong without letting them wallow in victory. Trolls feed on people getting offended.

@femfreq the enemies are dicks. The Witcher series takes place in what, the 1500s-ish? Men weren't too kind to women back then were they -
@JetTheFurry@femfreq Aha, as in "it is (has always been) historically correct that men insult women, so let's depict it that way" style =(

@femfreq Q: How can we make the experience of playing as a woman different than when playing as a male? A: The only way we know how. Barf. -

@femfreq Would you rather the developers pretend that such sexism didn't exist at that time? -
@JetTheFurry As it adds NOTHING to the game, yes. No reason to include it. Unless for realism, in which also case exclude ALL monsters/magic -
@whorrak The "realism means EVERYTHING must be real" argument is total crap. Realism in interpersonal relations, not setting. -
@KipEnyan I find the "sexism is INTEGRAL to the game because REALISM" argument to be utter crap. Guess we'll agree to disagree. -
@whorrak In a world full of racist lynchings and murders over petty squabbles, how ridiculous would social progressivism towards women seem? -
@whorrak Like, we just raped and murdered a whole village because of 1 guy, we also just burned 10 elves at the stake, but women are equals. -
@KipEnyan There's a difference between overt pro-female messages in-game, and simply NOT explicitly reinforcing sexist messages. -
@whorrak That's what I'm saying though, even its presence would be jarring in a world lousy with racism and murder. - 5 more replies
