@action_jay@femfreq yes I'm sure if a cop had credible threats against them they'd just quit being a cop. :-/ -

@femfreq but they can totally deal with a letter written with letters cut from the paper? -

@stuarttinch@femfreq That’s BS. If they can go after individuals for stealing music, they can go after people for sending death threats. -
@yuusharo@stuarttinch@femfreq Or if it's the wrong "they" then they should be able to tell you who covers that kind of crime. -
@MT_Conqueror@stuarttinch@femfreq My point exactly. Tell the victim reporting the crime where to go, not blame them and tell them to stop.

@femfreq sadly VERY few police deptarments are good at handling any crimes/abuse via online -
@MstrFantastic@femfreq We're pretty much at a point where every major police department ought to have some kind of cyber-crime department. -
@HyenaGrin@femfreq most Major depts do - but I doubt they put any sort of priority on investigations/cases there without solid leads

@femfreq@happierman Sadly this is not limited to the internet. The police have a terrible track record of dealing w/ threats against women. - 1 more reply

@femfreq I wonder who would be a good person to recommend a fix for that. -
@rue_walker@femfreq I made a report about threats received via email in 1997 and they didn't know what to do about it then, either. -
.
@tryjen 1997, I can maybe see. Most people didn't have a home computer yet. But 17 years later? This level of ignorance is unacceptable. -
@rue_walker Exactly! It's not new, it's not novel, it's not sudden. They just... don't care? I don't KNOW that to be true; feels like it is.
