Completely agree with @femfreq on The Witcher. They’re great games, Mary and I play through them together, but the misogyny is incredible.

@femfreq The violence against women is gross, explicit and unnecessary: eye-gouging, burning, restrained and stabbed repeatedly in stomach. -
.
@femfreq Despite having strong women characters, they’re damselled and, on one occasion, literally objectified. -
.
@femfreq *spoiler* Heck, the antagonists are a secret cabal of plotting women. Nice to see females among the baddies too, but … -
.
@femfreq … it comes across as looney men-hating women trying to smash the patriarchy, who of course out-fox them at every turn. -
@peterc_nz@femfreq Speak for yourself as to how it "comes across". - End of conversation

@femfreq gamers want games to be art but also be immune to critical engagement as artistic works and the medium suffers as a resultThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@femfreq remarkable how the only rebuttal to your talking about sexism in games appears to be sexist insults and "well uh sexism is normal" - 1 more reply

@femfreq does their culture and nationality give context for that misogyny or how does one argue with that deep engrained “tradition”? -
@MisterGreggles@femfreq No. However, the books the game is based on are packed with sex and it is used as an eye candy by the developer. -
@MisterGreggles@femfreq And sad-the books also feature strong female characters and a woman is the protagonist of a large part of the story -
@Mazurek64@MisterGreggles@femfreq Yes, and the games utterly lack interesting female characters. Oh, wait. No, they don't.
