Did you know that HISTORY VS. WOMEN has a Villains section featuring women who have stolen, killed or used political power to oppress others? Read this post by @anitasarkeesian and @ebonyaster on Why We Need to Include Female Villains in Our History Books. https://medium.com/s/story/why-we-need-to-include-female-villains-in-our-history-books-e4718cff80c …pic.twitter.com/hFGtw3rAAQ

Because women are human beings and are capable of being corrupted just like any other? Mind=Blown. When we assume women are purely good, then we begin setting expectations for women we would never set for men.

I would’ve thought that representing any women as inherently evil would’ve caused, you know An uproar and cries of misogyny Considering that y’all label it misogyny when women CAN but aren’t NEEDED to be killed in video games, but the majority of the time men MUST die? Context matters. Killing women (especially sex workers) in video games often portrayed/perceived as fun activity, and thats the issue. And feminists who criticize games for it are usually not big fans of crazy violence (towards any gender) in games in general.

Anita’s comment on the matter with GTA5, for example, was that it’s misogyny that women CAN be killed in the game. However, she failed to account for the fact that out of the hundreds to die in the game, only two women were dead because of the story. The vast majority were men.

As someone from a region that suffered under her I am so glad they included her. The City nearest me had men throw themselves off bridges and tall buildings to their death because of Thatcher's Policies. Young Men just starting out in life, who saw no future.

And yes part of it was caused because of cultural expectations of what being a 'Man' is. She took that from them and certainly we can argue against that, but that doesn't change she robbed those people of their hope, just as they where starting out, and they killed themselves

Another reason to get this awesome book. Two questions though: 1. Any plans for an audiobook version? 2. Any way to buy a signed copy?
