I would have thought you would have hated hackers. It shows video games, has only 1 female character and Angelina Joulie (I probably spelled that wrong) was only chosen because of her sex appeal.

for a different take on the Strange Days premise, there is the recent netflix movie Anon. i realize it's damning with faint praise but it's not as crappy as most of their scifi originals! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anon_(film) …

Hey guys, great episode! I wanted to respond to Anita's use of the word 'psycho'. I appreciate her questioning its potential ableism, and just wanted to clarify why it is indeed ableist, as well racist, classist, and misogynistic.

So, on the specificly ableist part. Psycho is shorthand for two mental health conditions. Psychopathy and psychosis. I'll get to psychopathy later, but psychosis is actually a symptom associated with several psych diagnoses - bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, etc.

The term psycho is virtually always used in the negative. It relies people's fear of those experiencing these mental states for it's punch. This fear leads to coerced treatment, violence, and marginalization in general.

As for psychopathy, it's slightly more complicated. It usually is many to refer to what's called antisocial personality disorder. A diagnosis applied to those perceived to totally lack empathy. To the extent that this is a thing, I'm not too concerned about it's marginalization.

Unfortunately it's unclear whether it actually is a thing. And like other personality disorders, oppositional defiance disorder for example, it is disproportionately applied to POC and the poor. It medicalizes and dismisses justified opposition to institutional oppression.
