On this week's brand-new FFR, it's a tale of two robots as we discuss Solo and its feisty, politically revolutionary female droid L3-37, then revisit the 1984 classic The Terminator and explore Arnold Schwarzenegger as an icon of masculinity! Solo is one ideological asteroid field of a movie, but we navigate it like the hotshot feminist pilots we are in the latest episode of FFR! We even manage to leap back in time and talk about the 1984 classic The Terminator while we're at it! Don't miss it: https://wp.me/p7K8cI-bC1 pic.twitter.com/INbIveee31

I wrote the tweet, and I used that word specifically because I disliked the character and felt she was the stereotype of a female character fighting for something better who's meant to be seen as comical and annoying for doing so. I apologize if it came across the wrong way.

In other words, I felt the creators might have set out to make her "feisty" and might have described her that way, and to them that might have been a good thing, but to me it is not.

Thank you for the context! That makes sense that you are playing on the feisty feminist trope. I liked the character but I'll read the article. I'm sure there's much more to it.

Err, I guess I can't "read" it since it's a podcast. In fact that's probably why I missed your point in the first place. Focusing on people talking is something I don't/can't do very often. I bet @sarahovenall will dig it though.

You're referring to sex, and even that is not nearly as binary as you think it is. It's a lady Droid.

Hoo, boy! Where to even begin with this? I guess first is that anyone should be allowed to say whatever they want, no matter how terrible; but that doesn't mean it's wise to say it, and companies can hire/fire whomever they want. Freedom > security, or else you get tyranny.

While we of course shouldn't reduce people to mere objects, it's somewhat disturbing to me that Caro and Ebony are personifying objects here (droids) and struggling to distinguish the two just because the AI are really convincing. I mean, Watson, Siri, Alexa, etc. aren't people.

As a transhumanist who applies the Moist Robot Filter to the world, we can certainly talk about the line between human and machine, but it's a very dark place that I don't know if you really wanna head down. It's very bleak and disquieting if your moral compass isn't rock solid.

While we're talking about free speech and govt, let me ask you this. If a comedian called Michelle Obama the n-word, would you expect Barrack to denounce it publicly? I hope you would and that's not a violation of #1A, it's him using his free speech as POTUS. Same thing.

To be honest, @carolynmichelle, I'm a bit disappointed that you'd resort to such partisanship and let your hatred of Trump get in the way of defending Ivanka against being called what YOU YOURSELF said is the worst word you can use just cuz it came from your someone on your team.pic.twitter.com/XUluaqV4G5
