This is my least favorite thing about Twitter. FWIW Reddit is much better at this (/r/OutOfTheLoop, /r/tldr, stickies, etc.)

The reason I got interested in the article in the first place was that we also use Thrift and GraphQL together and I can attest that it's amazing to be fully typed end-to-end. I personally prefer a unified schema, but if services are owned by separate teams I can see the appeal

Anyway, it's kinda sad that they spent so much words on why they didn't want it but so little about the benefits. This case-study once again shows how easy it is to write the tooling you want on top of it. And the parts you don't like (recursive queries) can easily be ignored.

Also if using GraphQL means having n+1 queries then you're grossly misusing it. If anything GraphQL should make it easier to automatically fetch things as optimal as possible and the implementations I've seen do this just fine.

There is a lot of FUD in this article, it's hard to recommend it. First of all, if you treat your frontend devs like little children instead of equals then Rest vs GraphQL is the least of your problems. (1/n)

People, my friends' parrot controls house features through Alexa and I don't think any Amazon user testing anticipated this. 🤣😂🤣

It really shows how far Rust has come, before ~2013 what Rust does is something people thought was *maybe impossible*.

don't implement features or fix bugs for Palantir. don't sell them paid support. don't let them pay for your conferences (hi !). don't have their employees as team members (hi again!) so many things you could do without crippling your work with export control

CI (particularly the bit where everyone merges into a shared trunk/master at least daily) is still the most controversial thing I talk about, because - in 2020 - the world is still divided into these two camps.

Reminder not to ever buy things. They will likely be a security/privacy nightmare and stop working sooner rather than later because they rely on servers somewhere. This has proven to be true even for seemingly "high quality" products like
