I believe none of the most important problems facing the world today are technical problems. All of them are political problems -- we know what the solutions are, we have the technology, and now we need to overcome human greed, fear, and hate, to finally take action.

Greed, fear, and hate will only exacerbate in a capitalistic environment. We need to set up better algorithms to help us navigate through these treacherous waters.

I agree. Please count with me if you ever have a realistic plan about how to do it.

Two possible directions: Most likely massive population reduction using various methods including trigger point of WWIII. The ultimate but unlikely solution, perhaps after WWIII, is social stress & pressure forcing out the political or more accurately widespread rulership BS.

That is not correct. If you work with politics you will discover that some of their minds are in the right place. But they lack the tools to turn that vision into reality. Especially regarding today's world scale and complexity.

We've had the technology for stable prosperous societies for at least 4000 years. However any system that tries to change the fundamentals of human nature fails catastrophically.

Name one example. One truly wicked problem that we have an answer for that wouldn't rip the passion out of life.

Agreed. Because engineers & scientists are problem solvers. If we had some of them in politics, we would have had less of political problems. Politics can become an attractive career path for them if it valued people who reason more than people who argue better.
