The difference between having an idea and seeing it to successful completion is like the difference between thinking "oh, I should climb mount Everest" over your morning coffee, and actually doing it.

The value is not in abstract ideation, it is in correctly evaluating the potential of your various ideas, and successfully executing on the most powerful ones.

Successful execution is an aggregate of thousands of ideas and decisions, among which the most valuable and less-obvious ones are often not the "initial" one

In toxic environments the boss will provide the initial idea (some lazy bosses ask their subordinates for it), then force the team through a series of deadlines, and finally take all the credit. There are many. Many of you are probably in one. Run away ASAP. It only gets worse.pic.twitter.com/C3SejssqFI

Successful execution needs our compound qualities: team work spirits, willpower and so on. If we achieve one of our ideas, it's nearly reshape ourselves.

A lot of people in startup env are afraid to share their ideas because they might got stolen. Well, everybody have tons of ideas! Why one should believe that the other's guy idea is better? And start implementing/"stealing" it? 1/n

Imho is the fear of failure that stops us from acting on our ideas. And once we start, the same fear stops us from ignoring the facts, that the path is wrong and leads nowhere. And tada! Self fulfilling prophecy! "I should have never started that! It failed badly!" 2/2

@fchollet Actually I often find out good ideas in the ashes of these first ideas, because they fail in new, unexpected ways. So even if I don't always do so, I try to implement the idea, just to get those fruitful ashes.
