Whether deliberately or inadvertently I don't know, but the communication & sharing dynamics of Facebook have evolved to become a social engineering project with incredibly deleterious effects across multiple countries and cultures.

When you're working on a problem, particularly in tech, it's very easy to acquire tunnel vision and concentrate solely on the puzzle you need to solve, and completely lose sight of the wider picture. It's not really a choice, it happens automatically if you aren't careful.

And this will keep happening as long as software companies pick developers for their ability to obsessively chip away at a problem with laser-like focus.
