  I think the range of applications (particularly those that serve the greater good) where deep learning is being used, such as health and finance, help to indicate that something is being done right.

  I think Alpha Zero Chess suits what you said. Code only knew how to move & learnt how to defeat (destroy actually) last year’s software chess champion stokfisch in only 24 hours. Very exciting.
