Twitter has highly adversarial reply dynamics. It's a playground for trolls, and often even awakens the latent troll in regular people. Like news sites with unmoderated replies, it gives an audience to the most toxic, agenda-driven posters. We need to be able to opt-out of that.

Lots of replies to these tweets are along the lines of: "you arrogant fascist, why do you hate discussion and debate and free speech". I find immense value in open discussions, but seriously, if you think that's how Twitter replies are used, we must not be using the same app.

Twitter seems to be a very different experience for those with a lot of followers, vs. those with less big audiences. It's safer for nobodies!

Even a simple filter for ditching replies containing certain words (you choose) would enhance. Better yet would be filter based "rating". Say you do not want to see anything BUT from those you follow, and those they follow.
