People could use pseudonyms. I can talk as much as I want, I'm trying to move out of a company that I consider evil. Talking means more time wasted. Sorry, but most people are not in a situation similar to yours. Mine may be opposite to yours. I hope my perspective is helpful.
Risk aversion and conflict avoidance may push us not to stand up for what we believe in, or stay silent when we have important things to say. This is self-reinforcing: the less people speak up the higher the perceived risk of speaking up. That's how your values die.

I am not convinced that ones 'values' will change or be stifled if they cannot be exhibited at every social venue. We often celebrate ('follow') a person for some appealing characteristics and/or 'understanding' of particular issues.This may not be the case for all of their ideas
