If there's one AI risk you should be worried about, this is it: extremely effective, scalable population control. And the fact that Facebook has been attempting to become a leader in AI is genuinely terrifying when you can see the full extent of the implications
As a member of the AI research community: next you participate in Facebook's AI ecosystem in any way, think about what you are enabling. You are feeding a monster that may end up eating us all. Sorry if I sound dramatic, but the threat level we face deserves that vocabulary.

I agree with your assessment. One thing, though: Would you warn about the AI research at Google/Alphabet/... in the same harsh words? Because all I know is that they also want to become a leader in AI, have incredible market power, and not a good track record w.r.t. free speech.
I don't know how to worry (and I don't want to know how). I only know how to trust THE MOST HIGH. Worry and faith are not compatible. Thank you for sharing your opinions though important topics no doubt!

What would be even scarier would be governments having this information. I can't imagine any scenario in which that would turn out well.
