Empirically, it appears that we input exponentially increasing efforts into Science, and we get back linear progress (in actual understanding & knowledge): exponential efforts are necessary to sustain constant knowledge generation. Mostly explainable via diminishing returns

The good news is that constant knowledge generation can have exponential effects on our world, which means that dedicating exponentially-increasing efforts to Science may stay viable in the long run
