I think there is one scientific method. This is obscured by the fact that it is seeing little use in science in general, getting instead replaced by a plurality of not-so-scientific methods. Deep learning, in particular, does not seem to care much for it

This does not prevent progress, because scientificness (and thus effectiveness) is a spectrum rather than a discrete quality. But it can certainly slow us down, sometimes considerably, in particular when entire subfields get built on deceitful foundations

It might help if you were little more clear about what you’re trying to communicate there. Also, I’m pretty sure there isn’t. Methods of proof in experimental physics vary wildly from those in psychology, as I’m sure you’re aware. There may be a hierarchy of principles, though.

Those psychology methods have really been showing their steadfast reliability lately, haven't they

Big data is the successor to the scientific method. Scientific method was great for collecting the right data in an era of data scarcity. However in an era of data abundance, often makes more sense to collect data first - ask questions later.

I agree data is important, but don't you think we need to ensure some data quality by asking some preliminary questions before collecting data.

Our misuse or lack of use of it doesn’t mean it is not useful. Another question: why hasn’t it been adopted at scale?

You are pure good, François. As for DL, it has dispensed with the Scientific Method altogether.
