It seems pretty recent that most criticism of FB was that it took too much control and made too many decisions around what’s in the newsfeed. Then, all of a sudden, the narrative inverted. (And yes, of course, there is good and bad in both narratives)
Chronological newsfeeds would largely prevent the spread of fake news on Facebook. It's the algorithm (deliberately controlling what gets spread) that's prone to getting gamed.

we could always unfriend or unfollow just to keep it functional. we unfollowed lots of people even real friends on instagram just to keep the feed meaningful.
