That doesn't mean we shouldn't have that debate, though. Overlooking something important could open dangerous doors (just like no gun regulation does in your example, and that is something that has to be addressed indeed, like all other situations you mention!)
Easy to throw out unwanted mail. The post office doesn't run up to you on the sidewalk and hand you explosives.
Autonomous devices programmed to harm humans present new reason for concern above and beyond human-operated guns, cars, etc. because of the potential to a) mask the perpetrators and b) present a harder target for law enforcement. It's critical to have ethical principles for #AI.
