One potential difference that popped into my head is attribution. Potential to do an anonymous drone attack vs obvious that the person firing a weapon is the attacker.
Don't pretend to not understand. If you use car as deadly weapon, you most likely die. If use autonomous car - you live.
I think it has to do with a lack of understanding of what AI is, where we are at in the technology today, and where the possible futures could end up based on what we are researching and implementing today. If you base it off of a movie, then you are most likely not sure.
