That's what it may seem like from the outside because those who care solely about the price of BTC tend to be obnoxiously loud. If you look carefully and beyond BTC, you'll find a vast community of technologists with their heads down building the next generation internet stack.

I think successful tech solves problems that people have, in a way that's clearly superior to previous alternatives. Blockchain is a solution in search of a problem.

Like "Autonomous Robots are going to kill us" right now. I don't think it's useful to judge any trend by the loudest voices in the community. Research output, practical uses, generalization/specificity, fault tolerance, and others are all better metrics.
