Which will happen first? Artificial cell-like tech or artificial brain-like tech? By cell-like tech, I mean self-manufacturing, self-maintaining macrorobots made of trillions of coordinated nanorobots.

Wouldn’t a trillion nanobots be the size of 1,000 normal robots?
On a serious note, it doesn't scale like that. The human body has on the order of 1e13 cells, but most cells are actually microrobots, on the order or 1-100 microns.

Dreams of nanobots are actually either ridiculous or completely mislabeled. A SWCNT has diameter ~1-10 nm. And that is a molecule not a robot. An antibody is ~15 nm long. The subcomponents of an artificial cell/microbot will be chemicals/molecules not smaller bots
