Not sure I agree. AI has always been a powerful story about who we are, for example the story of the golem from the Talmud. But that doesn't explain the sudden spike in interest that just happened to coincide with real world AI success. People care more now because it works.

The future of AI will be shaped by the breakthroughs that are sure to come. The old stories will not matter when new disruptive technologies eclipse the old ones.

Great observation. In my new book ( https://www.amazon.com/Artificial-Intuition-Improbable-Learning-Revolution/dp/1983895644 … ), I write about the stories of the people in the pacific that used just their intuition to navigate the vast oceans. This AI narrative is an incredible story and hope to write more stories in the future.

Agreed. Entangled because the behavior of humanity is often the training set so that the manifestations of AI are little mirrored fragments where we get to see ourselves (and we love that). I guess that’s always the case with new technologies but this time is different.
