As an Asian American it's really weird to see conservative America grapple with the idea that one doesn't need to be white to be a "true" American. Like, I exist. What about me. I can't go anywhere except here.https://twitter.com/Noahpinion/status/956771494448660482 …
There isn't a lot of difference between believing that some people are worth more than others because of superior "contributions", or because of superior genes. It is the belief that some lives are worth less than others, that eventually destroys societies

I will also note that people who hold this belief didn't arrive to it because they were thinking about "contributions" (or about genes). They derived their value system backwards, starting from the conclusion: "I hate these people. Let's see, why are they inferior?"
-
Yet you've presupposed equality and you're working backwards to find reasons why inequality is inferior. I say let the utility speak for itself. Across most societies, there seems to be a pattern of who rises to the top - why do you think leaders around the world seem so alike?

Consider how quickly the communists fell (the States with the most egalitarian basis) and how long the Chinese empires and Roman empires lasted - states that elevated some above the rest. Every society falls eventually - treating people appropriately seems to slow the decline
