The human mind is an infosec disaster. The way it forms opinions has many flaws (among them, so-called cognitive biases), and because it never gets patched, plenty of systems around us have evolved to exploit these flaws with ruthless efficiency, from religion to politics...

A vulnerable, static system in an adversarial, fast-adapting environment. The net result is that almost none of our opinions come from self-directed discovery and rational thinking

Someone on the Rogan podcast mentioned this recently. Basically any opinions we thought we made on our own we’re actually shaped by multiple other things instead. Made me sad as hell lol

True to a certain extent. But we are not so defective that we cannot get together to build extremely complex systems such as computers, jet aircrafts, rockets and the internet. There is hope for humanity and plenty to be proud of.

That's because those systems crash and burn *fast* though IMO. Social and relational damage happens slowly and perniciously, and you're often working with only partially observable environments.

The StarWars idea to influence week minds, so they do what we want, IMHO fulfils this. People are "targets" for politicians, companies, etc, that need to be convinced to their mind. Our minds are so varied, that not all can be some target and they can think on their own.

I think even religion has it's target, and I'm very curious when will new technologies be used to classify people for their religious preferences, to convince them to this or other religion.
