Also, I'd say people are more likely to come forward with unconventional ideas in an environment that's safe and respectful. So if you want to foster creativity and contrarian thinking, you should in fact crack down on anything that makes people feel less safe or less respected

There is, in fact, a pretty clear difference between contrarian thinking and hate speech -- in many ways, they're polar opposites, not best buddies

As a card-carrying Yin-Yang dualist and AGI researcher, I have encountered nothing but disdain from the materialist mainstream AI community. Not that I'm bitching, mind you. I am comforted by the knowledge that materialists have as much chance of figuring out AGI as my dog.
