I wonder also if people will stop calling much of what survives, shows practical value and prospers "AI" or whether it will linger on due to its power for generating headlines, hype and PR.
Prediction: there will not be a real AI winter, because AI is making real progress and delivering real value, at scale. But there will be an AGI winter, where AGI is no longer perceived to be around the corner. AGI talk is pure hype, and interest will wane

PR doesn’t go in for nuanced language particularly. Likely that once AGI speculation goes out of fashion, “AI” will be replaced in press/media by other terms tied to vertical applications.
