I wish that instead of forcing people to write tweet threads, we had unlimited characters that would collapse as an "expand thread" button.

From talking with some Twitter folks a year ago, they tested something like this and nobody clicks expand. Bad experience for both sides.
People do expand threads. I think "THREAD: 1/ ..." should become the new "RT @..."

Rarely, and threading isn't even supported by many clients. Twitter doesn't care for threading at all, consider it antithetical to "micro".

It's something heavy core users use, but Twitter feels it confuses the casuals they need to expand user base for more ad revenue.
