      Caffe itself is legacy, and Caffe2 has no traction. "Dead" is too strong a qualifier, this is a gradually declining ecosystem.

          I'm not an expert in chainer enough to know. Wish I had time to dig deep in every framework, but then I wouldn't be so deep...

          I've tried to implement basic seq2seq in chainer and PyTorch - almost same code, PyTorch one worked, chainer didn't. Choice obvious.

          I suspect that's anecdotal. I hear from both PyTorch & Chainer users, and the PyTorch ones seem more likely to complain (perf/stability)
