@fchollet got his facts wrong - We never shipped standalone Keras 2 - always 1.2. We were denied a PR. And Keras 2.0 ships as part of TF.
We are open to PRs for new backends. I certainly don't recall ever getting a PR or getting directly contacted about a MXNet backend
