      In what world is "AI" limited to agents? If it were, less than 1% of AI folks would be working on "AI". And does a convnet have a goal?

      No. That's ML. The creeping expansion of "AI" is part of what got us in this mess.

      ML is adaptive. AI has goals. 99% of programming fits neither description.

      Convnets are useful for perception, though, so are a necessary precondition for embodied AI. They aren't AI on their own however.
