I think the MOOC problem is that they are too impersonal. People need to be observed and supervised by other people in order to pull 100%.

My idea would be: MOOC content delivery + personal educational trainers, that would discuss the study plan, monitor progress and give advice

This is already implemented by some. Students watch videos, with deeper discussions during classes. In this case the MOOC's a bonus.
