Tests allow you to assess the impact of any and all future changes to a codebase. They're an automated monitoring system.
You'll write better tests if you write them with this in mind.

Testing tip: I write tests that fail when we upgrade dependencies, which we have written
#HACKs for. This lets us review/remove the hack. -
(If the upgraded dependency no longer requires the hack or workaround, of course!)
